SEYMOUR 14, DERBY 4

Dan Manente allowed two hits and struck out nine and had two hits and two RBIs to lead the Wildcats to an NVL win in Seymour.

John Chacho added three hits including a two-run home run for the Wildcats. Ty Netto had a three-run home run for the Red Raiders.

Anthony DePino had a home run, single and drove in two runs to lead the Hand baseball team to a 12-0 SCC win over Shelton in six innings in Shelton on Friday.

Liam Wallace pitched a complete game shut out with four strikeouts and allowed four hits. Julian Banerji and Kevin Girard each added a single, double and two RBIs for the Tigers.

Hand improved to 12-3. Shelton fell to 5-7.

Angelinis Rodriquez-Medina added three hits and four RBIs for the Lions (1-13), who won their first game since the 2013 season. The Presidents’ record fell to 0-15.

Darien increased its winning streak to 13 straight contests Friday by sweeping Greenwich. FCIAC East Division leader Darien (13-1 overall, 10-0 league) has now won 39 straight sets since since a 3-2 loss at Newtown on March 30.

Tyler Herget collected 12 service aces, Piers Roofthooft had 11 service points and seven kills, Nik Tinaj added 15 service points while setter Jackson Leone distributed 19 assists in the triumph for Darien.
