Cooper St. Germain and Jace Funaro each had a hit and an RBI for the Wildcats (2-2).
North Branford 10, Coginchaug 3 >> At Durham, Matt Chamberlain, Gio Tirollo, and Mike Hoyt (two RBIs) had two hits apiece to lead the T-birds on Friday.
Hoyt scattered five hits to earn a complete game win for North Branford (3-1).
The Blue Devils fell to 3-2.
Portland 2, Valley Regional 0 >> At Deep River, Roland Thivierge scattered five hits and struck out seven in a complete game win on Friday.
Thivierge also had two hits for the Highlanders (3-2). The Warriors fell to 4-1.
Cromwell 23, Hale-Ray 0 >> At Monnes Field, senior Matt Osora struck out seven over five innings, while Luke Matchett had three hits and three RBIs to lead the host Panthers.
Alex Hinkle and Zach Lombardo each had two hits for Cromwell (4-2).
The Noises fell to 0-4.
Haddam-Killingworth 16, Hyde 3 >> Trevor Mann, Owen Marica, and Ben Alonzo each had four hits and four RBIs to power the Cougars to their sixth straight win on Friday.
Jack DiMatteo struck out seven to earn the pitching win for H-K (6-0). Hyde fell to 0-5.
Softball
Haddam-Killingworth 4, Coginchaug 3 >> At Higganum, Ana Hale’s bases-loaded, two-out single in the bottom of the seventh scored two runs, lifting the Cougars to a come-from-behind victory on Friday.
Rachel Senechal homered and freshman Brooke LaTouché picked up her second win for H-K (2-2).
Taylor Marino went 3-for-4, Destiny Helmedach had two hits, and Natalie Labasi added an RBI double for the Blue Devils (3-2).
Hale-Ray 14, East Hampton 4 >> At Moodus, Isabelle Hajek went 2-for-2 with a triple and three RBIs, and Jacey Clarke also had two hits, including a triple, and two RBIs to power the unbeaten Noises (5-0).
Meg McLaughlin hit a home run Sarah Vickery had a double and two RBIs for the Bellringers (3-2).
University/Classical 25, Vinal Tech 7 >> At Middletown, Toby Sznaj hit a pair of three-run homers to pace University’s 16-hit attack on Friday. Carly McCarthy had three hits and two RBIs for University (4-2).
Donna Agogliati hit a three-run homer for the Hawks (1-3).
North Branford 12, Cromwell 0 (5) >> At Totoket Park, Lindsay Golia had 10 strikeouts to lead the host T-birds (6-0).
Kate Pietraszek had the only hit for the Panthers (1-3).

Boys Volleyball
Xavier 3, Newtown 1 >> Sean Monaghan had 20 kills and 12 digs to lead the visiting Falcons to a 25-14, 14-25, 25-16, and 25-23 win on Friday. Han Bin Yoo added 16 digs in his first career start and Austin Pare had 16 kills for Xavier (2-2).
Jake Lapp had 14 kills and three blocks for the Nighthawks (0-5).
