East Haven defeated No. 5 Norwich Free Academy, 5-1 in a non-league softball game at East Haven Thursday. The Easties, who started the season 0-3, improved to 5-4 with their fifth win in six games. NFA fell to 8-1.

Victoria Sampiere had two hits and an RBI as Seymour rallied past previously unbeaten Woodland in a Naugatuck Valley League matchup at Beacon Falls.
Kolby Sirowich added an RBI single for the Wildcats (9-1). Kylie Bulinski 3 hits and an RBI for the Hawks, which fell to 8-1.

Eryn Sheeley reached on an error and later scored on another error in the bottom of the seventh as No. 6 North Haven handed No. 4 Cheshire its first loss of the year. North Haven’s Lauren Card pitched a three-hit shutout and earned the win for the Indians (9-0).
Cheshire’s Bri Pearson pitched a three-hitter with seven strikeouts, but took the loss. Cheshire fell to 8-1.

North Haven rallied to tie the game with two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
