SHELTON 3, WEST HAVEN 0

Sophomore Anthony Steele tossed a no-hitter, striking out six, for the Shelton baseball team, which defeated West Haven 3-0 Tuesday in a Southern Connecticut Conference game at West Haven.

Steele allowed just one walk for the Gaels (2-6). Juan Carlos Contreras allowed five hits for the Blue Devils (2-5).

DANBURY 6, ST. JOSEPH 4

The Danbury baseball team won its fifth in a row Tuesday as three hits from Jackson Ciccone led the Hatters to a 6-4 win over FCIAC rival St. Joseph at home. Danbury jumped out to a 6-0 lead through four innings then held off a late Cadets surge.

Justin Solimine improved to 3-0 with a six-inning effort. Justin Hope had two hits for Danbury (7-3), which has leapt up the FCIAC standings over the past two weeks.

Andrew Paradis singled home Jacob DelMonte with the winning run with two outs in the top of the seventh inning as Southington won a non-conference game over Notre Dame at West Haven.

Jason Kral stranded Max Mariano at third base by getting Eddie Zanor to fly out to left field in the bottom of the seventh to end it for the eighth-ranked Blue Knights (7-1). Mariano had three hits, including a triple, while driving in one and scoring for Notre Dame (7-2).
