Thursday’s roundup: Howell delivers yet another walk-off victory for Ludlowe baseball

BASEBALL

LUDLOWE 6, TRUMBULL 5 (8 INN.)

Brian Howell had three hits, including the walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth to lift Ludlowe’s baseball team over Trumbull. It was the fifth walk-off victory for the Falcons this year and comes a day after they lost their first game of the year, 2-1 to Ridgefield.

Greg Calabrese had two hits, including the game-tying single in the seventh while Blake Benway had two hits and scored a run. Jamie Flink got the win in relief.

GUILFORD 3, EAST LYME 2

Tyler Considine delivered a walk-off, RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to help the Guilford baseball team rally for a 3-2 victory over East Lyme Thursday in a non-conference home win.

The Indians trailed 2-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. Jack Strand led off with a triple and John Petonito drove him in with a single. Mike Stebbins picked up the victory in relief. Chris Malcolm went 3-for-5 for East Lyme.

Charlie Pagliarini and Aaron Kirby each had two hits for the Cadets (5-2). Luca Wentzel hit a two-run home run for Wilton (5-2).

Joe Galla had two hits and two runs and Rich Evans drove in two for the Wolverines (5-4). Nick Todice broke up Donaldson’s no-hitter leading off the top of the sixth with a single for the Wildcats (4-3) and Austin Verab accounted for both of Seymour’s runs on a two-run single.

Megan McFarland went 3-for-4, including a double and a triple, with three RBIs and Emily Lange went 3-for-3, including two doubles, for the Panthers, who improved to 8-0. The Mustangs’ record fell to 4-3.
