WELCOME BACK to our second episode of the second season for ‘Inside the Circle’ podcast.
This week, hosts Ryan Lacey and Sean Patrick Bowley recap another week of high school softball, including yet another postponement of a big, Top 10 game, Cheshire vs. St. Joseph, which has been moved to Monday, just two days after the rescheduled season opener between Masuk and St. Joseph on Saturday.
But there was plenty to talk about, including Seymour’s comeback victory over St. Paul, Bristol Eastern’s rain-shortened victory over Southington and West Haven’s red-hot start, among other top games and performances of the last week.
The Latest Top 10 Softball Poll: Masuk, Trumbull, St. Joseph stay on top
Joining us this week is our first guest of the 2019 season. Fittingly enough, it’s Leigh Barone, the fifth-year coach of the defending Class L champion and current No. 1-ranked Masuk.
Coach Barone gives us a rundown on her team’s quest to repeat and hits on other interesting topics beginning with her start at Sacred Heart Academy and the pressure of taking over as head coach of a championship program.
We also talk about some of last week’s top performances and this week’s top games.

This podcast was recorded Tuesday afternoon, so we’ve missed some results from Tuesday and Wednesday’s games. But all eyes are on this week’s Top 10 matchups featuring Masuk and Cheshire vs. St. Joseph (as always, weather permitting).
