Monday’s Middletown Area Roundup: Parker powers Hale-Ray baseball team

Matt Parker was 3 for 3 with a double, triple and three RBIs to lead Hale-Ray to its 9-3 win over Creed-Hillhouse Monday.

Conard 7, Middletown 1 >> Conard scored six runs in the third. Middletown’s only run came on a double from Ben Mroczka. Jay Nanfito went 2 for 3 for Middletown. Conard scored their seventh run in the bottom of the fourth.

North Branford 9, Haddam-Killingworth 3 >> Gio Tirolo and Nick Candelara each had three hits to lead the North Branford 15 hit attack. Jeff Jablonski scattered six hits and struck out five to give the Tbirds their third win.

Popp had a hit and RBI for HK (9-3).

Fairfield Prep 10, Xavier 0 >> Prep scored 10 runs on 10 hits at Palmer Field to improve to 8-2. Xavier dropped to 4-6.

Haddam-Killingworth 4, East Hampton 0 >> Owen Marica threw a three hit shutout with seven strikeouts and had two hits to lead HK on Sunday. Kyle Crandall had a two-run single in the first.

Jimmy Sullivan had two hits for the Bellringers.

East Haven 12, Xavier 1 >> The Yellowjackets broke open their SCC home game with eight runs in the fourth inning Saturday.

Softball

North Branford 15, Cromwell 1 >> Julia Haeckel scattered one hit and had 13 strikeouts to lead North Branford in six innings. North Branford is 7-1. Jenna Masiello had the lone hit for Cromwell, which dropped to 3-5.

Coginchaug 23, Morgan 0 >> Destiny Helmedach was 2 for 3, including her 100th career base hit. Melissa Grenier was 3 for 4 with a 3-run home run.
