FAIRFIELD >> Nicole Williams pitched a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts as St. Joseph won its third-consecutive FCIAC softball championship in a 7-1 victory over Stamford at Pioneer Field on the campus of Sacred Heart University. Williams was named the MVP.
Lauren Blose had three hits and three RBIs. Elena Ball had three hits, including a double. Kayla Giacobbe added two RBIs.
Stamford scored its only run in the fifth when Allie Buzzeo singled and eventually came around to score on a passed ball. That cut St. Joseph’s lead to 3-1.
But the Cadets (22-1) scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to all but put the game away.
