Here are 10 CIAC softball games worth checking out this season:
Seymour at Holy Cross, Saturday, 1 p.m.: Perennial NVL power Seymour visits the Crusaders, the defending Class S champion, in the season opener.
Stamford at East Haven, Tuesday, 4 p.m.: The teams play also play in Stamford on April 9.
Barlow at St. Joseph, Wednesday, 4 p.m.: Interesting non-conference tilt. St. Joseph will be led by senior pitcher Nicole Williams, while the Falcons counter with junior shortstop Briana Marcelino and junior center fielder Kristen Acocella.
South Windsor at Rocky Hill, April 18, 6:30 p.m.: Two of the better teams in the CCC square off under the lights at Elm Ridge Park.
Fitch at Southington, April 25, 4:30 p.m.: If schedule holds and Southington keeps winning, Blue Knights can break Seymour’s state record of 78 consecutive wins with a victory over the Falcons. Southington enters this season having won 70 in a row.
Mercy at Lauralton Hall, May 10, 4 p.m.: The SCC Quinnipiac Division may be decided here.
Cheshire at Amity, May 11, 3:45 p.m.: This contest between SCC rival might determine the Housatonic Division champion.
Sheehan at North Branford, May 12, 3:45 p.m.: The second of two meetings during the regular season between Sheehan, out of the SCC, and the Thunderbirds, members of the Shoreline Conference.
East Granby at Haddam-Killingworth, May 16, 4 p.m.: East Granby completed an unbeaten regular season last year before advancing to the Class S semifinals.
Nonnewaug at Thomaston, May 20, 3:45 p.m.: Nonnewaug reached the Class L semifinals as a No. 10 seed last season.
